AIM OF IMAS

IMAS registered members/schools/organisations may continue to use their own training curriculum, patterns and testing requirements. There is no need to change your methodologies as long as you adhere to IMAS testing procedures and rank certification.

Benefits of IMAS Membership:

  • National and International Rank Recognition.

  • Reviewing and granting of ranks.

  • Access to IMAS Rank Recognition and Certification.

  • A central filing of all ranks and styles.

  • Recognition of your rank and authentic ranks of foreign countries.

  • Official IMAS Certificate of Rank.

All too often Individuals, Instructors, Masters, Grand Masters and even Organisations become involved in martial arts politics. This only causes confusion, disunity and fragmentation amongst practitioners. IMAS is a “non-political” organisation focusing on the Martial Art and not on the political games played by so many organisations. Maintaining the integrity of the Martial Arts and upholding the traditions of these arts are our main goals.

IMAS IS HOME TO 3 KOREAN MARTIAL ARTS STYLES. THEY ARE TAEKWON-DO, HAPKIDO AND TANGSOODO

HAPKIDO

HapKiDo is Korean martial art and uses the same three Chinese characters as Aikido but the similarities between the two end there.

HapKiDo is a hybrid Korean martial art. It is a form of self-defense that employs joint locks, grappling, throwing techniques, kicks, punches, and other striking attacks.

TAEKWON-DO

Tae Kwon Do is a martial art that traces its origins through Korea’s 5,000-year history.

The literal translation for TaeKwon-Do is "kicking," "punching," and "the art or way of.“ It is a martial art that attacks or defends with hands and feet anytime, anywhere without any weapons.

TANGSOODO

Tang Soo Do translates to mean "Way of the China hand".
