All too often Individuals, Instructors, Masters, Grand Masters and even Organisations become involved in martial arts politics. This only causes confusion, disunity and fragmentation amongst practitioners. IMAS is a “non-political” organisation focusing on the Martial Art and not on the political games played by so many organisations. Maintaining the integrity of the Martial Arts and upholding the traditions of these arts are our main goals.
IMAS IS HOME TO 3 KOREAN MARTIAL ARTS STYLES. THEY ARE TAEKWON-DO, HAPKIDO AND TANGSOODO
HAPKIDO
HapKiDo is Korean martial art and uses the same three Chinese characters as Aikido but the similarities between the two end there.
HapKiDo is a hybrid Korean martial art. It is a form of self-defense that employs joint locks, grappling, throwing techniques, kicks, punches, and other striking attacks.
TAEKWON-DO
Tae Kwon Do is a martial art that traces its origins through Korea’s 5,000-year history.
The literal translation for TaeKwon-Do is "kicking," "punching," and "the art or way of.“ It is a martial art that attacks or defends with hands and feet anytime, anywhere without any weapons.
TANGSOODO
Tang Soo Do translates to mean "Way of the China hand".
Korean martial art based on Karate and fighting principles from northern Chinese martial arts. It also teaches the use of traditional weapons, including sword, nunchaku, short stick (28”), middle-length staff (4’) and long staff (6’).
